Ferrum, Va. - The Battling Bishop women's soccer team suffered a pair of USA South losses over the weekend, falling at Maryville College by a 3-0 score on Saturday before dropping a 1-0 decision at Ferrum on Sunday. Wesleyan is now 6-9-1 overall, 3-7 in conference play.
At Maryville, the Scots took a 1-0 lead into the break and tallied a pair of second half scores. NCWC freshmen keepers Haley Hopkins and Vanessa Batchelor combined for seven saves on 16 MVC shots.
Versus Ferrum, the Panthers notched the only score of the contest in the 8th minute off a keeper deflection. FC out-shot NCWC 26-10 on the day, including a 12-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.
The Bishops will wrap up the regular season portion of their slate on Wednesday at Methodist University. Wesleyan will need a victory to qualify for the following week's USA South Conference Tournament. Kickoff is slated for 3:00pm.
