Rocky Mount, N.C.- The Battling Bishop women's soccer team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon at Scalf Field, falling by a 2-1 score in USA South play.

The first half was a defensive battle with each team getting off just four shots. NCWC's Ashley Dunn helped anchor a Bishop defense that allowed just one shot-on-goal in the period, helping secure 0-0 score at intermission.

In the second half, junior Logan Bill got Wesleyan on the board quickly by taking a pass from Hannah Tolson and chipping Pride keeper Brittany Morrison just 27 seconds in. Wesleyan looked poised to make the 1-0 lead stand up, but a costly foul in the box with less than ten minutes remaining resulted in a Samara Alba penalty kick that eventually forced overtime.

Wesleyan narrowly missed its own Golden Goal at 91:09 when a Bill touch brushed by the post. Unfortunately, GC's Melanie Raton got her break-away opportunity 1:23 later and converted to the right of NCWC's Sarah Hovis for the gamewinner.

The Bishops held a 15-12 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in shots-on-goal. Morrison kept the Pride (5-1, 1-0 USA South) in the match with seven saves on the day.

Wesleyan previously opened league play on Friday with a road match at Piedmont. The Lions held the Bishops to just a trio of shots and used a pair of second half scores to secure the 2-0 shutout.

NCWC (2-4-1, 0-2 USA South) continues USA South play on Friday when the Bishops travel to Averett University. Match time is slated for 4:00pm.
