Maryville, Tenn. / Lookout Mountain, Ga. - The Bishop women's soccer team dropped a pair of USA South matches at Maryville and Covenant over the weekend. MVC posted a 4-1 victory on Friday, while Covenant secured a 1-0 shutout on Saturday.

Versus Maryville, freshman Maggie Rankin's goal at the 20:28 mark knotted the score at 1-1, but the Scots' Monica Besbris' unassisted tally just before the break would prove to be the eventual gamewinner. MVC added a pair of goals in the final ten minutes pull away down the stretch, finishing with a 15-12 edge in shots.

At Covenant, an early red card forced the Bishops to play a man-down for majority of the match. The Bishops, in fact, out-shot the Scots 11-6 on the night, but a 19-yard free kick by Ruth Terry in the 54th minute provided just enough offense for Covenant to steal the victory.

Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday at Mary Baldwin College. The match is slated for a 4:00pm start.
