NCWC Women's Soccer Ends Season in Tourney Quarterfinals

Demorest, Ga. - The NCWC women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in with a 2-0 loss at Piedmont College in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 USA South Tournament on Saturday.

Seeded #7 overall, the Bishops made the trip to #2 Piedmont hoping to pull off a second straight opening round upset of the Lions. A defensive battle throughout, neither team could get on the board in the first half, but late goals by PC in the 77th and 81st minutes erased Wesleyan's hope of another shootout. The Lions finished with a 12-4 advantage in shots on the day.

The loss marks the end of the careers of four-year seniors Vanessa Batchelor, Nicole Liette, and Sarah Olsowski. All three were instrumental in Wesleyan's defensive showing on Saturday, with Liette and Olsowski anchoring the back and Batchelor making a trio of saves in goal.

NCWC ends the season with a 7-9-2 overall record.
