ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The NC Wesleyan College Women's Soccer team returned home on Saturday hosting Salem College (N.C.) in a non-conference game, but fell in defeat 4-1.

The Battling Bishops would get on the board first in the 33rd minute as sophomore forward Cydney Nichols scored unassisted to put NCWC up 1-0. However, Salem would come right back a few minutes later to tie the ballgame at 1 while Wesleyan had an 8-5 shot advantage at the break.

Unfortunately for the Bishops, Salem (3-4) would take their first lead in the 61st minute and not let it go going on to add two more goals in the half while leading in shots 10-7 in the half as well.

Leading in shots for the Bishops was Sarah Cook with 4 while Nichols and Victoria Burkhardt had three each as well.

Wesleyan goalkeepers Alicia Jacobs and Kim Lamm combined to make 8 saves on 12 shots on goal.

NCWC (1-3-1, 0-1) will next be in action on Monday for a quick turnaround with a non-conference game at Johnson & Wales in Charlotte at 6 PM.
