WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team held off a late rally to defeat Brevard College 2-1 at BB&T Park in Winston-Salem on Wednesday evening. This game was scheduled as a makeup to multiple cancellations both teams endured due to Hurricane Dorian.

Senior forward Sarah Cook led the Bishops with both goals on the day scoring both in the second half about 7 minutes apart.

Cook scored her first goal unassisted at the 57:23 mark of the game to give the Bishops the 1-0 lead. She then struck again near the end of the 64:00 minute mark off an assist from sophomore Khristel Thompson as Wesleyan led 2-0. They were her first two goals of the season.

Wesleyan outshot the Tornadoes 16-10 overall, including 10-4 in the first half to improve to 1-2 on the season. Junior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs got the win making 4 saves on 5 shots on goal as Brevard (0-2-1) finally got past her in the 80th minute to get within 2-1. But they could get no closer as the Lady Bishops held them off for the win.

Cook also led the Bishops with six shots while junior forward Cydney Nichols had 5 shots.

The Lady Bishops will now return home for their home opener on Saturday at 4:00 PM to host Bridgewater College (Va.).
