Women's Soccer Falls to Bridgewater in home opener

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Bridgewater College (Va.) in their home opener on Saturday.

BC got their first goal in the 24th minute of play before tacking on their second right near the end of the first half in the 44th minute to lead 2-0 at the break.

However, NCWC goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs kept the Bishops in it by making 8 saves and teaming with her defense to hold the Eagles scoreless in the second half blocking away 12 shots in that half.

Junior forward Cydney Nichols, freshman midfielder Isabel Neall, and senior defender Naniiya Brown had a few shots on goal and some good chances to score throughout, but could not put away the tallies they needed to come back.

BC improves to 3-3 while NCWC falls to 1-3 on the year. the Lady Bishops will next be in action on Wednesday as they are back on the road to face Mary Washington in Virginia at 4:30 PM.
