Women's Soccer Falls to Salem on Senior Day

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team fell 3-1 at home to conference foe Salem College on Senior Day Saturday.

Salem got on the board first with two quick goals in the first 11 minutes of action before the Lady Bishops responded with a goal from junior forward Cydney Nichols in the 35th minute, her 7th goal of the year.

Salem would take that 2-1 lead into halftime and it would remain that way until the final few minutes when a very physical game that consisted of 27 fouls saw Salem earn a penalty kick off a Wesleyan red card in the box. Salem would score that to make it 3-1 and improve to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the East.

Wesleyan now falls to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the division. Junior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs played pretty well throughout making 6 saves on 9 shots.

The Lady Bishops next play on the road at Meredith College on Wednesday at 6 PM.
