RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Women's Soccer team lost a tough rivalry game on the road with Meredith College on Wednesday falling 2-1.

Meredith broke through first with a goal at the 27 minute mark before the Lady Bishops came right back 2 minutes later with junior forward Cydney Nichols knocking in her 8th goal of the season off an assist from freshman Emily Puentes.

The teams would go into the break tied at 1 with the shot count also tied at 8 apiece.

Meredith would then break the tie by scoring the go ahead goal just one minute into the second half as MC's Morgan Thomas scored her 2nd of the game.

Wesleyan would get 5 more shots off in the half but, unfortunately, could not break through with the tying goal.

Junior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs made 8 saves on 10 shots on goal in the defeat as Nichols and Puentes led with 4 and 3 shots apiece.

Meredith improves to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the Division while Wesleyan drops to 4-9 and 2-4 in the East Div.

The Lady Bishops are next in action on Saturday when they return home to host Pfeiffer University at 2:00 PM.
