CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The 6th seeded NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team lost a heartbreaking USA South tournament quarterfinal game 2-1 in overtime to #2 seed Covenant College in Chattanooga Saturday.

After a scoreless first half that saw Covenant lead just 5-3 on shots, the Lady Bishops would take a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal from junior 2nd team forward Cydney Nichols in the 68th minute of play for her 13th goal of the season.

The Bishops would hold that lead until just under 5 minutes remained when Covenant would add the tying goal off a corner kick sending it to overtime. Covenant then sealed the win with a overtime game-winner in the 99th minute of the first period.

Wesleyan trailed just 11-9 in shots as they played very well against a quality opponent. Junior keeper Alicia Jacobs finished the day making 4 saves on 6 shots while Nichols led in shots with three.

Covenant improves to 10-5-2 overall while NCWC finishes the year 6-11-1.
