ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team picked up their first win of their spring season on Saturday defeating conference foe William Peace 2-1 at Scalf Field.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, junior forward Khristel Thompson then got the Lady Bishops on the board with her first goal of the season scoring in the 22nd minute off an assist from junior defender Emily Ketchum.

Wesleyan then kept the 1-0 lead and 7-3 advantage in shots into halftime. However, 11 minutes into the second half in the 56th minute, Peace would tie the game at 1 with their unassisted goal.

The Ladies would keep pressing, however, and 20 minutes later, Thompson found the back of the net for her second goal of the game in the 76th minute. This time she was assisted by junior midfielder Kailey Munro.

Senior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs improved to 1-1 by making 7 saves on 8 shots on goal for the Bishops.

Senior midfielder Madison Stace and sophomore midfielder Emily Puentes also attempted 3 shots apiece as their shots came very close to going in the net for Wesleyan as well.

The Bishops improve to 1-1 in the USA South with the win while Peace falls to 2-2 overall (1-2 USA South). Wesleyan will next return to action on Wednesday at Averett at Noon.
