Lady Bishops Trounce Regent 8-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team rolled to a 8-0 trouncing of non-conference foe Regent University (Va.) at home on Saturday in the final game of the NCWC Classic. 

Wesleyan piled on 7 first-half goals against a 10-woman lineup on Regent. The game was then called early after 70 minutes in the second half as Regent fell to 8 available players due to injuries.

Starting off the scoring for the Bishops was freshman Caitlyn Butler in the 13th minute off an assist from junior Sophia Sweeney. Senior forward Khristel Thompson then added a goal 10 minutes later off an assist from senior defender Emily Ketchum. Senior Kailey Munro then scored the third goal in the 30th minute. Scoring the 4th goal was Butler in the 33rd minute off an assist from freshman Alicia Harp. She then completed the hat trick with her third goal just 30 seconds later. 

Junior forward Isabel Neall then scored the 6th goal five minutes later in the 38th minute off an assist from Megan Mackey before Harp added her first goal unassisted in the 40th minute to make it 7-0.

Sweeney then completed the scoring early in the second half off an assist from Allison Newman.

The Bishops, now 1-2, will next face Guilford at home on Wednesday at 4 pm.
