Women's Soccer Dominates Salem on Senior Day

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 shutout win over Salem College on Senior Day Saturday.

Wesleyan got on the board early with a goal from senior forward Khristel Thompson in the 6th minute as she scored unassisted, her second of the season.

The Bishops then added to their lead in the 18th minute as senior midfielder Megan Mackey scored off an assist from junior midfielder Sophia Sweeney to go into the break up 2-0. Mackey's goal was her 2nd of the year.

Junior midfielder Mariah Berkovich then scored a beautiful goal on a strike from 15 yards out that blew past the keeper into the back corner of the net to put the Bishops up 3-0 in the 76th minute. It was her first goal of the season.

Wesleyan then outshot the Spirits 14-6 overall including 5-1 in the second half. Graduate senior keeper Alicia Jacobs finshed the easy day making 2 saves on both shots on goal.

Wesleyan improves to 4-9-1 overall and 2-5 in the East while dropping Salem to 6-9-1 and 2-4-1.

Wesleyan remains home to host Averett at 1 pm on Wednesday in their final home game of the season.
