Bishop Runners Prepare for Conference Meet with 6K at Averett

Danville, Va. - N.C. Wesleyan's cross country team had its final tune-up for the USA South Championship meet on Saturday, running a 6K race at Averett University. The Bishops tallied the top three times among a field of eight runners and earned top billing after the Cougars failed to qualify for a team score.

Sophomore Florencia Sorrentino again paced the Bishops with a meet-best time of 31:05. NCW freshman Sarah Grossman finished 2nd at 34:17, while Hannah Ivester came in 3rd at 34:58. The Cougars and Bishops alternated at 4th through 8th, with Wesleyan's Ana Diaz in 5th and Leigh Hales in 7th.

The USA South Championship meet is scheduled for October 31st at Hagan Stone Park. The 6K event will conclude Wesleyan's cross country season.
