Wesleyan Cross Country Hosts NCWC Classic

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College cross country teams hosted their season-opening meet on Saturday morning with the 2nd annual NCWC XC Classic from their on-campus course. Numerous runners broker their own personal records in the meet as the women fought to a 2nd place finish overall while the men finished third.

The D-2 Francis Marion women won the meet while Methodist's individual runner Caroline Stubblefield won the individual 6K race in a time of 26:40. Wesleyan beat Agnes Scott (Ga.) for 2nd by 5 points. 

Wesleyan's junior Snejana Spinache also ran very well placing third in a time of 27:33 for her new personal record to lead the Lady Bishops. Freshman Anna Ray was then second on the team and 9th overall in a time of 29:41 while junior Teanna Bellamy was 11th  in 30:52.

Nagisa Ogahara then came in 14th in 32:02 while she was followed by Alyssa Donaldson in 15th in 32:07 and Michelle Sackey-Ansah in 16th in 32:20. 

The women will next compete in the Monarch Invitational in Fayetteville on Saturday.
