DeLand, Fla. - The NC Wesleyan College Football team got off to a great start leading 14-0 early but eventually fell 55-21 to FCS Div. 1 Stetson University on the road Saturday.

The Bishops got out to their two touchdown lead as sophomore WR Tyler Roberts caught a 21-yard Touchdown pass from senior QB Donielle Totten. On the first play of their next drive, junior RB Jeff Black then scampered 45 yards for a touchdown as the Bishops would lead 14-0 just 5 minutes into the game.

Unfortunately for Wesleyan, Stetson would then find their rhythm and score the next 38 points of the first half to lead 38-14 at halftime. The Hatters would add two more touchdowns in the third quarter before Wesleyan got back on the board with a 9 yard touchdown pass from Totten to senior tight end Ben Dorfman.

Wesleyan did gain 325 yards on offense with Totten throwing for 177 yards and 2 TDs while Irvin caught 6 balls for 93 yards and Roberts 2 for 61 yards. Senior RB Darian Curley rushed for 56 yards to lead the way on the ground as well.

Senior linebacker Isaiah Williams also recorded a sack and a pass breakup among his 5 tackles while junior CB Eddie Graham also made 7 tackles.

The Bishops fall to 1-2 with the defeat while Stetson improved to 3-1. Wesleyan begins conference play next week with a game at LaGrange College in Georgia at 1:00 on October 5.
