Rocky Mount, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan Football team faced Methodist University for
Homecoming this Saturday lost a heart wrenching defeat in the first on campus night game in
program history.
Just like a prized Boxing Match the Battling Bishops and Monarchs of Methodist would go blow
to blow in the first half answering each score with a score of their own.
The Battling Bishops would take a 6-play opening drive to score on a rushing touchdown by
Anthony Byrd. NCWU would then answer with another 3-play drive to score on a rushing
touchdown by Trevon Crank. To bring the score to 14-10 in the first.
Trevon Crank would add another rushing touchdown in the second quarter with the ensuing
PAT missed by Hunter Rice and Anthony Byrd would add another 51-yard rushing touchdown to
bring end the first half with a score of 27-20.
The third quarter would see the last scoring drive for the Battling Bishops with a 30 yard
touchdown run by Anthony Byrd and another ensuing PAT missed by Nolan Weloff.
The Monarchs would add two more scoring drives that would bring the final score to 34-33 in
favor of the Monarchs.
The Battling Bishops will travel to Maryville, TN to face Maryville College this upcoming
Saturday 10/22/22 at 1:00 pm.
