Football Defensive Player of the Week
Antonio Johnson, N.C. Wesleyan - The Beaufort, North Carolina senior linebacker totaled 13 tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 23-7 win over USA South leader Huntingdon College last week. Johnson had 11 solo tackles and two assisted take downs while his tackles for loss resulted in nine negative yards.
Finally, his interception occurred in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Battling Bishops helping them improve to 5-4 on the season and 4-2 in the conference.
Johnson beat out 5 other nominees for the award while it is his 2nd straight Defensive Athlete of the Week award and his fourth on the season.
The Bishops will next return to action on Saturday for Senior Day as they return to their on-campus home at the Vernon T. Bradley Complex for a Noon game vs. Maryville College.
