Football's Tucker Honored with Decade's Defensive Athlete of the Week Award

In the absence of competition in the fall semester and its postponement to the spring semester, the USA South Athletic Conference will continue selecting athletes of the week. The selections, however, will not be based on current competition but instead the nominees will be those who earned an athlete of the week honor in a particular category within the current week over the past decade. This week, NC Wesleyan Football was honored as Bobby Tucker was named October 12 Defensive Player of the Week for this decade for helping NCWC to a win over Maryville back in 2015.

Wesleyan also had two other football players nominated under the Defensive award for their stellar weeks in 2018 and 2019. They were recent gradauates and all-americnas Eddie Graham and Antonio Johnson.

Football Defensive Player of the Week 
Bobby Tucker, N.C. Wesleyan (October 12, 2015) 
- The Durham, North Carolina junior defensive back set a new single-game program record with three interceptions in a 24-7 victory over USA South foe Maryville. Additionally, Tucker totaled seven tackles, six of which were solo take downs, one pass break-up and a blocked field goal. Tucker returned his three interceptions for a total of 54 yards.
