Football Drops USA South Game at Brevard

Brevard, NC- The NC Wesleyan College Football Team dropped their non-division game at Brevard College 44-14 on Saturday afternoon. 

After Brevard got on the board first with a touchdown, the Bishops would run the ensuing kickoff back for a 78 yard touchdown by Kevin Alford. Brevard would next score the 23 points to take a 30-7 halftime lead.

After 2 more Tornado touchdowns in the 2nd half, the Bishops would score their 2nd touchdown of the game on a 5 yard scamper from Senior running back Jeff Black.

Black finished the day leading the offense with 108 yards on 24 carries. Junior wide receivers Alford and Jai Irvin combined to catch 4 balls for 73 yards.

Defensively, Wesleyan was led by 6 tackles from all conference safety Benyon Williams while fellow safety RJ Carter also made 8 tackles.

Linebackers Luke Moorhead and James Hayden also made 7 and 6 tackles respectively.

Also recording half-sacks were Hayden, freshmen Justin King, LB Tim Willis, and DL Sevion Brown while cornerbacks King and Omarh Toliver also made 6 tackles apiece.

Brevard improves to 4-1 on the season while dropping the Bishops to 0-4.

Wesleyan will look to finish their season next weekend with a game TBA.
