MONTGOMERY, AL - The NC Wesleyan College football team fell 30-7 on the road at conference leader Huntingdon College on Saturday in Alabama.

The Bishops scored the first touchdown of the game as junior WR Chase Corey ran a blocked punt back 32 yards for a touchdown to put Wesleyan up 7-0 early. This was just a few plays after senior CB Dmaurien Franklin returned an interception back 20 yards.

Then, on the ensuing kickoff, the Bishops forced a Huntingdon fumble and recovered it at the HC 30-yard line. However, Wesleyan's drive would stall forcing a field goal attempt that was blocked by Huntingdon ending the madness of turnovers over the first few possessions.

The Hawks would then put two touchdown drives together to go up 14-7. A safety against Wesleyan before the half then made it 16-7 Huntingdon at the break.

HC then drove 74 yards early in the third to grab another score and make it 23-7 before a 4th quarter touchdown ended the scoring for the day at 30-7.

Sophomore QB Storm Yarbrough threw for just 85 yards on the day including 41 yards on 2 receptions for WR Elijah Love while the rushing combination of freshman Trevon Crank and junior Anthony Byrd totaled just 66 yards on the ground on 23 carries.

Defensively, Wesleyan was led by sophomore linebacker Luke Moorhead's 11 tackles (9 solo) while fellow sophomore LB Deante Lucenti was just behind making 10 tackles. Junior safety RJ Carter also played well making 9 tackles while freshman safety Korey Hunter recorded 8 takcles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Sophomore CB Benyon Williams also recorded an interception to go with his 7 tackles while Charles Sias made 8 tackles as well.

Sophomore Jaydon Denmark also returned a fumble for 28 yards while recording 4 special team tackles and a TFL.

Wesleyan falls to 3-5 overall with the loss and 3-3 in the conference while HC improves to 6-2 and remains undefeated at 6-0 in the league.

The Bishops will return home for the final time this season next Saturday when they host Southern Virginia at Noon on senior day.
