Buena Vista, VA – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Football team picked up their first
win of the 2023 season this Saturday versus the Knights of Southern Virginia.
In a scoreless first quarter the Knights Mathew Johansson scored on a six-yard pass from
Isaiah Maxey. The ensuing PAT was no good by Southern Virginia and the Knights took at 6-0
lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw an eleven-play drive by the Knights that was capped off with a fifteen-yard
rushing touchdown by Kade Thompson to put the Knights up 13-0. The Battling Bishops would
answer with an eight-play drive capped off by an eight-yard touchdown run by Trevon Crank to
bring the score 13-7 going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter would see an eleven-play game winning drive that would be capped off by a
two-yard rushing touchdown by Trevon Crank.
Chaz Hirschman threw of 212 yards, while Trevon Crank ran for 94 yards. Defensive Back
Benyon Williams finished the game with 2 interceptions and 4 total tackles.
The Battling Bishops will face LaGrange College this Saturday for Homecoming at 1:00pm this
upcoming Saturday 10/31/22.
