Bishop Women Top Agnes Scott, Harris Named All-Tournament

Emory, Va. - The Battling Bishop women's hoops squad split a pair of games at this weekend's Holiday Tournament hosted by Emory & Henry College. After falling to Pikeville on Saturday by a 77-44 score, NCWC bounced back with a 79-38 win over Agnes Scott in Sunday's consolation game, led by junior Kenyata Harris who was named to the All-Tournament team.

Saturday's opening game saw Pikeville, currently ranked in the NAIA Top-25, shoot nearly 40 percent from the floor and hold the Bishops to less than 30 percent accuracy to remain undefeated on the season. NCWC junior Timyra Staton had nine points and eight rebounds off the bench to pace Wesleyan, while Harris and Alexis Fitzgerald chipped in seven points each.

On Sunday, the Bishops forged a slim 19-14 lead over the Scotties after one quarter of play. From there, however, Wesleyan out-scored ASC 60-24 over the final three periods to pull away and snap a five-game losing streak.

Harris netted a team-high 17 points. She was joined in double-figures by freshman Jermaiyah Baker and Staton with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bishops (4-7) return to USA South play next Saturday when they host Ferrum College. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in Everett Gym.
