Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's women's basketball team posted a 63-58 USA South victory over Covenant College on Saturday afternoon in Everett Gym. Junior Kenyata Harris paced the Bishops with a game-high 16 points to help her Bishops move to 3-2 in league play.

The Bishops were able to forge a slim 29-24 lead at the half thanks to a 14-point showing from Harris. Covenant, however, out-scored NCWC 21-15 in the third quarter to take a 45-44 edge into the final ten minutes of play.

In the fourth, Covenant held a slim 49-47 advantage with 8:07 remaining, but the Bishops used an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to take a 58-49 lead that they would not relinquish. The Scots got as close a three, 61-58, with 26 seconds left, but Wesleyan freshman Cheria Turrentine knocked down a pair of key free throws to seal the victory down the stretch.

Junior Timyra Staton complimented Harris with nine points and six rebounds, while as a team, NCWC forced 29 Covenant turnovers that resulted in 20 points.

Joanna Smith paced the Scots with a double-double of 16 points and 10 boards.

The Covenant win came on the heels of a 78-54 loss to league-leading Maryville on Friday night. Harris again led the Bishop with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

The split leaves Wesleyan with a 6-8 overall record heading into Wednesday's road match-up with Greensboro College. The game is slated for a 5:30pm tip-off.
