FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team fell 66-62 on the road to quality non-conference foe, University of Mary Washington on Tuesday evening. The tough defeat ended the Bishop's 4 game win streak.

A competitive first half saw UMW lead by just three at the break, 35-32 with the Bishops shooting 37 percent and the Eagles just a bit better at 41 percent. 

The third quarter saw each team struggle to shoot the ball each scoring just 13 points apiece. UMW then extended their lead to 10 points in the fourth quarter even leading by that many with 3 minutes to play. The Bishops, however, would then end the game on an 8-2 run, but it would not be enough in the end.

Junior guard Kayla Johnson paced the Bishops with 19 points including five 3-pointers along with 4 rebounds. Fellow junior, point guard Keorra Taylor also scored a season-high of 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting (3 three-pointers) along with a team-best and season-best of 6 assists with 5 rebounds.

Junior shooting guard Cydney Nichols also added 8 points with 3 rebounds and 2 steals while senior guard Jermaiyah Baker and freshman forward Myesha Best each added 6 points each as well.

The Bishops made six more threes than the Eagles bu the difference came at the free throw line as UMW made ten more freebies than Wesleyan. 

NCWC falls to 4-2 with the loss while UMW improves to 5-1. The women are off until December 4 when they go on the road to battle Salem College at 6 PM to open conference play.
