Bishop Women Fall to Peace in First-Place Battle

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team dropped their first place battle 73-66 to William Peace University in Raleigh on Wednesday.

Peace improves to 5-0 in the conference with the win while Wesleyan falls to 4-1.

Wesleyan (9-4) trailed just 36-35 at halftime before tying the game at 54 at the end of 3 quarters. Unfortunately, Peace would go on to outscore the Bishops 19-12 in the fourth quarter on the way to the 7-point win. 

Peace (12-2) shot an impressive 51 percent for the game and nearly 44 percent from three while Wesleyan struggled from behind the arc shooting just 21 percent and 37 percent for the game. 

Junior forward Myrayna Watkins led the Bishops with 18 points and 8 rebounds while junior SG Kayla Johnson also added 16 points and 6 boards.

Junior point guard Keorra Taylor also added 8 points and a team-high 7 assists while freshman guard Myesha Best scored 9 points with 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

NCWC returns to action on Saturday on the road to face Meredith College at 2:00 PM.
