Bishop Women Continue Winning Ways

Fayetteville, NC- The NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team cruised to their 4th straight win on Saturday defeating Methodist University 72-53 in Fayetteville. 

Junior guard Cydney Nichols led the Bishops with 18 points and 7 rebounds on 8 of 14 shooting. 

Juniors Kayla Johnson and Myrayna Watkins also scored in double figures with each posting 13 points apiece while Watkins added 7 rebounds , 3 steals and 2 assists.

junior forward Kneciya Tripp also led the team in rebounds with 10 while adding 8 points and 3 steals. Freshman guard Nyesha Best also posted 7 points with 4 assists and 4 steals. 

Wesleyan led 32-24 at the half over the Monarchs before outscoring them 19-11 in the third quarter and would go on for the 19-point win. The Bishops shot 38 percent for the game while holding MU to just 34 percent from the floor and only 15 percent from 3-point range. 

Wesleyan continues their best start to a season since 2002 by improving to 13-4 on the season and 8-1 in the conference.

They will next return home to host Meredith College on Wednesday evening at 7 PM.
