ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The 2nd seeded NC Wesleyan College women's basketball team saw their terrific 19-win season come to a disappointing end on Saturday as they fell 75-66 to 3rd seeded Maryville College (TN) in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament at home.

First Team all-conference junior guard Kayla Johnson led the Bishops with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from 3-point range while fellow junior guard Keorra Taylor also finished in double-figures with 11 points and team-highs in assists with 7 and steals with four.

Junior forward Myrayna Watkins also scored 12 points with 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Freshman forward Kayrisma Harrison was the final member of the team to finish with double-digit points as she scored 10 with a team-best 9 rebounds.

A very low-scoring first quarter saw the Bishops lead 11-7 after one before Maryville took a slim halftime lead at 26-25.

MC then edged the Bishops again in third quarter 20-18 to take a 46-43 lead into the fourth. Wesleyan would then go on a 7-2 run to begin the fourth and take their only lead of the quarter at 50-48 with 7 minutes to play. Unfortunately, Maryville would then go on a 27-16 run to clinch the game.

Freshman guard Nyesha Best also added 7 points while junior forward Kneciya Tripp pulled down 8 rebounds with 4 points, 2 steals and a block.

The Wesleyan women finish their most successful season in over 20 years at 19-6 while Maryville improves to 20-7 and will advance to the conference semis to face top seeded Berea College next weekend in Kentucky.
