ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The N.C Wesleyan College women's basketball team fell short at home 66-57 against conference opponent Methodist University on Friday afternoon.
The first half was a back and forth contest with both teams switching leads and ultimately ending with Methodist up 32-29 at intermission.
The Monarchs got off to a quick start in the 3rd quarter and held a steady lead over the Bishops throughout the third taking it 21-15 to lead 53-44.
Wesleyan would then bring the game back getting within seven points but, unfortunately, the Monarchs never allowed them to get any closer. Methodist improves to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the East Division.
The Bishops were led in scoring by sophomore forward Nadia Simmons who had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Senior point guard Keorra Taylor also had 13 points to go with 2 assists and 3 steals while sophomroe guard Deonna Adams led the team with 4 assists to go with her 6 points and 2 steals. Junior forward Kayrisma Harrison also led the team with 12 rebounds and 3 blocks defensively while senior shooting guard Kayla Johnson added 7 points as well.
The Bishops fall to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference and will next be in action Wednesday as they remain home to host Christopher Newport at 3 PM.
