Simmons 20 Points Lead Bishops Past The Knights;  5-Game Win Streak

Buena Vista, VA – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team traveled to Buena Vista, Virginia to play Southern Virginia; the Bishops defeated the Knights by a score of 79 to 73. 

In a game that saw 26 ties and 36 lead changes the Bishops led in the majority of the statistical categories. The Bishops had the edge over the Knights with points off turnovers (19 to 14), second chance points (16 to 9), points in the paint (50 to 32), fastbreak points (11 to 9), and bench points (36 to 19).

Three players for the Bishops scored in double digits with the leading scorer being the junior from Henderson, NC, Nadia Simmons with 20 points off of an 8 of 15 shooting performance and being 4 of 6 from the free throw line.Kayrisma Harrison, the senior from Weldon, NC, scored 13 points off a 6 of 7 shooting performance while being 1 of 2 from the free throw line. Kaniya Cromarite, the freshman from Smithfield, VA, was a rebound shy of recording a double-double scoring 13 points and adding 9 rebounds.

This records the 5th win in a row for the Battling Bishop ladies. The Bishops will face Meredith College on Tuesday, January 10th in their own Everett Gymnasium.
