Rocky Mount, NC – The North Carolina Wesleyan University Women's Basketball faced the Avenging Angels of Meredith College and came away with a victory by a score of 76 to 66.
The game saw five ties and one lead change and the Bishops leading in nearly every major statistical category. The Bishops led in rebounds (42 to 35), assists (17 to 13), points off turnovers (11 to 7), and bench points (13 to 2).
The Battling Bishops had a total of four players who scored in double digits against the Knights with Areina Harris, the junior from Raleigh, NC, who led the Bishops with 14 points off a 6 of 10 shooting performance from the floor while being 2 of 3 from behind the arc. Nadia Simmons, the junior from Henderson, NC, scored a total of 16 points off of a 7 of 10 shooting performance and being 2 of 6 from the free throw line. Johnay Goddard, the junior from Williamston, NC, scored 10 points off a 4 of 10 shooting performance from the floor, while being 2 of 2 from the free throw line. Nyesha Best, the senior from Goldsboro, NC, scored 10 points off a 3 of 6 shooting performance from the floor, while being 1 of 2 from behind the arc and 3 of 3 from the free throw line.
The Bishops now have won their last six contests and will face Greensboro College in their own Everett Gymnasium at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 13th.
