Bishops Win Crucial Contest Over Methodist

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Women's Basketball team defeated Methodist University 67-56 Tuesday night. The Bishops were led in scoring by Deonna Adams who had 14 points and made 3 baskets from behind the arc.

Nadia Simmons also had an impressive outing contributing 12 points to the contest and going 6-8 from the charity stripe. However, the biggest contribution for Nadia was her rebounding. As an SF/G she had a remarkable 11 rebounds and posted a double-double for the game. 

The Bishops dominated the key stats to the game, namely rebounding and defensive categories.Wesleyan outrebounded Methodist 50-34 and over half of the rebounds were offensive. Wesleyan also was able to hotly contest shots from the Monarchs in the affair, holding them to under 40% from the floor overall, and 27.3% from the three point line.

Last night's contest was vital in the USA South seedings. The Bishops now hold a commanding two game lead over the Monarchs and are tied with Southern Virginia for the #3 seed in the conference.

The Bishops are back in action this weekend as they go on the road for a pair of USA South contests, facing Brevard Friday at 6:00pm and Pfeiffer at 2:00pm on Saturday.
