Wesleyan Captures 2nd Place with 76-67 Win over SVU

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball team defeated Southern Virginia Saturday afternoon 76-67. The Bishops had a huge day offensively and had all 5 starters in double-digits. Junior guard Deonna Adams led the way with 19 points followed by Areina Harris with 17 points of her own. 

The biggest key to the game however was defense. Wesleyan forced SVU to commit 29 turnovers, which is a season-high for the Bishop's defense. The Knights also shot under 35% from 3 in the contest.

Other contributors from Wesleyan included Corynthian Williams who got 13 points and 6 rebounds for the game. Nyesha Best and Kayrisma Harrison also chipped in 11 points of their own in the victory.

With the win yesterday, Wesleyan clinched 2nd place in the USA South regular season and will host the conference tournament up until the championship round if the women are able to advance through the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

The women's basketball program will also be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Methodist. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:00.
