The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2011-2012 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that 58 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition.
The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 47th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 16th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2011-2012 season. Among those athletes and teams, NCWC boasted 50 USA South All-Conference selections, three USA South Championships, two Players of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one NCAA tournament berth. Highlighting the night’s winners were the honors given for the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year, along with the Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
North Carolina Wesleyan opened up the 2012 USA South Softball Tournament at Burlington's Springwood Park on Friday morning with an 8-0 win over William Peace, marking the 400th career victory for long-time NCWC head coach John Brackett. Unfortunately, a 7-1 defeat at the hands of top-seeded Christopher Newport later in the day was followed by a season-ending loss to Methodist on Saturday morning.
