    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team hosted its 2015 Parent's Day on Saturday, then celebrated the occasion with a doubleheader sweep of USA South foe Mary Baldwin. The Bishops have now won seven of their last ten games to even their record at 13-13.

    In USA South softball action, senior Kendra Hoes scored the game-winning run in extra innings to lift her Bishops to a 3-2 win in Monday's opener at Maryville College. The Scots bounced back with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap to secure the split.

    Junior Jasmine Edgren went 9-for-13 with five RBIs and four runs scored to lead her N.C. Wesleyan softball team to a trio of USA South road wins this weekend. The Bishops swept Covenant on Saturday, then earned a conference split at Piedmont.

    Junior Jasmine Edgren singled home senior Sarah Roberts in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift N.C. Wesleyan's softball team to a 3-2 walk-off victory over Guilford College in Wednesday's opener at Edge Field. The Quakers bounced back for a 3-1 win in the nightcap to secure the split.

    Freshman Peyton Hyler blasted two homeruns and junior Carla Matthews went 7-for-12 with five RBIs over the weekend, leading their N.C. Wesleyan softball team to a pair of doubleheader splits with Ferrum College and the University of Mary Washington at Edge Field. Wesleyan posted 10-9 and 5-3 victories in the openers, while both losses came in one-run extra inning affairs.
  • NCWC Softball Picks Up First League Win at Methodist

    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team picked up its first USA South win of the season on Wednesday, posting a 6-5 win in game one of the Bishops' league doubleheader at Methodist University. Freshman Sarah Bowyer drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with a three-RBI double to centerfield in the seventh inning.
  • Bishop Softball Drops USA South Pair to Greensboro

    N.C. Wesleyan's softball team dropped a pair of USA South contests to Greensboro College on Sunday afternoon at Edge Field. The Bishops saw the Pride erase a 7-0 deficit in game one to steal an 8-7 win, then plate ten runs in the nightcap to secure the sweep by a 10-6 score.

  • Wesleyan Softball Sweeps Wilson to Even Record

    N.C. Wesleyan turned in a twinbill sweep of Wilson College on Saturday afternoon at Edge Field, knocking off the Phoenix by 10-1 and 3-1 scores. Peyton Hyler blasted her first collegiate homerun in the opener, while fellow freshman Logan Lowery tossed a one-hitter in game two en route to her first win in the circle.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2015 spring sport preseason polls for baseball, softball, tennis and golf. The N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team led the way by being pick to win a seventh straight title.

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of Rocky Mount and its surrounding community.
