Monarchs Rally Late, Steal 42-39 OT Win at NCWCOctober 25, 2014On Homecoming Weekend at Bishop Stadium, the Monarchs of Methodist University came back from ten points down in the final two minutes to force overtime and eventually steal a 42-39 win from North Carolina Wesleyan. After forcing a turnover on downs on the Bishops' second OT possession, MU's Cody Ausherman booted home a 39-yard gamewinning field goal, his fifth FG of the day, to secure the victory.

Midgett Tabbed USA South Player of the WeekOctober 13, 2014The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for October 13th, and for the first time in his career, junior quarterback Dustin Midgett has been tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Midgett helped his Battling Bishops to their third straight conference win over the weekend, a 48-21 thumping of LaGrange College on the road.

Midgett Tosses Record Six TDs in Win at LaGrangeOctober 11, 2014Sophomore quarterback Dustin Midgett threw for a program-record six touchdown passes on Saturday afternoon to lead his Battling Bishops to their third straight win, 48-21, at LaGrange College. In addition to topping Wesleyan's record book, his six TDs tied the USA South record for touchdown passes in a game.

This week, sophomore Malik Adams' one-handed catch for a 45-yard touchdown versus Averett is one of four nominees. The TD came early in the fourth quarter and kicked off a 27-6 run by the Bishops.

Midgett-to-Bishop TD Caps Comeback Win over AUOctober 04, 2014Junior quarterback Dustin Midgett threw three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the last to freshman wideout Dwayne Bishop with 15 seconds remaining, to fuel a thrilling 34-30 come-from-behind win over Averett University on Saturday in Rocky Mount. Wesleyan scored 27 points in the final period to secure the team's second straight USA South win and the program's first back-to-back league victories since the 2010 season.

Wesleyan Football Holds On for 34-30 Win at FerrumSeptember 27, 2014Senior Jacques Alston rushed for a career-high 218 yards and three touchdowns to lead his North Carolina Wesleyan football team to a 34-30 USA South victory at Ferrum College on Saturday. Alston and teammate Brice Wordsworth also hauled in scoring catches to pace the Battling Bishops, who even their record at 2-2 on the season, 1-1 in conference play.

Wallace Named a Small College Player of the WeekSeptember 24, 2014The N.C. Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that senior linebacker James Wallace has become the first Bishop player to garner Small College Player of the Week status this season. Cutting Edge Sports Management, hosts of the Dream Bowl III, and Optimum Scouting recently released its September 22nd honorees, with Wallace as one of five players chosen among Division III institutions.

Janezic's TD Fumble Return Up for Play of the WeekSeptember 22, 2014The USA South Athletic Conference is continuing its "Football Play of the Week" initiative during the 2014 season. This week, freshman Anthony Janezic's 48-yard fumble return for a touchdown versus Christopher Newport is one of four nominees. The return came early in the fourth quarter and gave the Bishops their first lead of the night, 28-24.

Alston Breaks Record, but Bishops Fall Late to CNUSeptember 18, 2014Senior Jacques Alston broke the N.C. Wesleyan football program's all-time rushing record on Thursday night at Bishop Stadium, but it would not be enough as NCWC suffered a tough 31-28 loss to Christopher Newport in the USA South opener for both squads. Needing 78 yards to eclipse Bryan Haywood's career record of 2,744 yards, Alston managed 106 yards on the night to stake his claim atop the record book.

Gridiron Bishops Shut Out Lions for First Win, 27-0September 13, 2014Behind trio of rushing touchdowns by senior Jacques Alston and a nearly flawless defensive performance, the Battling Bishop football team of North Carolina Wesleyan picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, downing host Lincoln University by a 27-0 score. The shutout is the fourth in program history and the first since the 2011 season.

Stevenson Victorious in Opener at Bishop StadiumSeptember 06, 2014Playing its first home night game in program history, the Battling Bishop football team of North Carolina Wesleyan fell by a 40-19 score to Stevenson University in Saturday's season opener at Bishop Stadium. Jacques Alston recorded a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and fellow senior James Wallace tallied a game-high 12 tackles, but it would not be enough to thwart 468 yards of offense by the Mustangs.
