The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013-2014 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that 84 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition, marking the highest total in school history!
The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 49th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd, in Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2013-2014 season.
The N.C. Wesleyan golf team wrapped up its 2014 slate over the weekend at the USA South Conference Championship held at Rocky Mount's Benvenue Country Club. The Battling Bishops carded a 5th-place finish as a team and were led by junior Chris Freeman's 2nd-place individual showing. An All-Tournament honoree, Freeman finished just two strokes behind medalist Cory Howard of LaGrange, who was 5-over for the tourney.

The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of men's golf, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed a pair of Battling Bishops on the squad.

The Battling Bishops recorded an 8th-place finish among 32 teams, which included finishing ahead of league foes Greensboro, Averett and Ferrum. Junior Lucas Norman led the way with rounds of 77 and 69 to earn a spot in the top-25.
North Carolina Wesleyan's golf team hosted its annual Don Scalf Invitational on Sunday and Monday, and for the third straight season, the Battling Bishops were able to take the team championship. Junior Lucas Norman fought adverse conditions to card rounds of 74 and 75 to finish at 5-over par and repeat as the event's medalist.

The USA South Athletic Conference has released its preseason coaches poll for men's golf, with N.C. Wesleyan being picked to finish seventh overall. The Battling Bishops earned 40 points in the poll, which was topped by LaGrange College with eight first-place votes.

It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
North Carolina Wesleyan's golf team opened its 2013 fall season on Saturday and Sunday at the annual Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College. The Bishops shaved 14 strokes off their day one total to finish tied for 6th-place among 18 teams competing -- a marked improvement from last year's 14th-place showing against nearly identical competition.
