The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013-2014 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that 84 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition, marking the highest total in school history!
The USA South Athletic Conference has released its postseason awards for baseball with a total of 47 athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan had a trio of Bishops garner accolades, led by sophomore Ciro Norzagaray and freshman Luis Palencia as Second Team selections. Sophomore Andrew Franklin rounded out Wesleyan's honorees as a member of the league's All-Sportsmanship team.

Senior Will Beasley and freshman Spencer Ramsey each picked up wins on the mound on Monday, helping their Battling Bishop baseball team secure a doubleheader sweep of Piedmont College at Bauer Field. Wesleyan took game one by an 8-5 score thanks to a pair of RBIs each by sophomores Ciro Norzagaray and Jason Riley, while game two saw Beasley go the distance for a 3-2 victory.

The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of baseball, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed 22 Bishop players on the squad.

The Battling Bishop baseball team opened up USA South play at Bauer Field over the weekend with a three-game series versus Huntingdon College. The Hawks took all three games in the set, turning in 8-4, 4-3 and 9-4 wins on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, respectively.
In Tuesday afternoon baseball action, Washington & Lee University picked up a 5-2 win over N.C. Wesleyan at Bauer Field. Senior Hayden Williams went 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored to pace the Bishops on offense, but it would not be enough as the Generals got all the run support they would need with a three-spot in their first at-bat.

Sophomore Ciro Norzagaray delivered a game-winning walk-off triple in the bottom of the ninth to give his Battling Bishop baseball team a 4-3 win over Eastern Mennonite University in game two of Friday's season-opening doubleheader at Bauer Field. The Royals had taken the first game by a 2-1 score before Norzagaray's heroics helped secure the split.
The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2014 preseason coaches' poll for baseball, with North Carolina Wesleyan earning a second-place billing. The Battling Bishops, under the direction of veteran head coach Charlie Long, received two first-place votes and finished just four points behind preseason favorite Covenant College. The Scots received three first-place votes and 67 points overall.
The Battling Bishop Baseball team just completed a very busy fall working hard to make the 2014 spring campaign a success. As great as their work was in the classroom and on the field, their most important contribution to Bishop Baseball came in another form that left a lasting impression on all who saw them perform. That contribution was their commitment to others through the Bishops’ Community Outreach Program.
September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
