  • Cougars Sweep Series with Bishops at Bauer Field

    In USA South baseball action, Averett University got complete games in Saturday's opener and Monday's finale to secure a three-game sweep of N.C. Wesleyan at Bauer Field. Sophomore Luis Palencia paced Wesleyan offensively by going 6-for-12 with a pair of stolen bases, but it would not be enough to counter a Cougar offense that plated 18 runs during the series.
  • Grant and Moore Victorious in Series Win over WPU

    Sophomore Ryan Grant and senior George Moore each picked up wins on the mound over the weekend, leading their N.C. Wesleyan baseball team to a USA South series win over William Peace. Originally scheduled to be played in Raleigh, the series shifted to Bauer Field after last week's ice storm left the Pacer facility unplayable. NCWC went on to secure a doubleheader sweep on Saturday by 5-1 and 4-3 scores, with WPU bouncing back for a 5-2 victory on Sunday.
  • Diamond Bishops Postponed at CNU, Fall to Eagles

    In Saturday's baseball action, poor field conditions forced the postponement of Wesleyan's road game at Christopher Newport University and also resulted in the Bishops hosting a non-conference contest versus Bridgewater College. NCWC dropped the contest by a 2-0 score, despite out-hitting the Eagles 5-4 on the day thanks to a 2-for-4 showing by senior J.J. Rodriguez.
  • Norzagaray Homers Twice, but Bishops Suffer Sweep

    The Battling Bishop baseball team opened its 2015 slate over the weekend with a three-game USA South series at Huntingdon College. Junior Ciro Norzagaray blasted a pair of homers and batted .500 (5-for-10) during the set, but Wesleyan had no answer for the Hawk bats in falling by 10-7, 10-9 and 13-5 scores.
  • USA South Releases 2015 Spring Preseason Polls

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2015 spring sport preseason polls for baseball, softball, tennis and golf. The N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team led the way by being pick to win a seventh straight title.

    The Battling Bishop Baseball team just completed a very busy fall working hard to make the 2015 spring campaign a success. As great as their work was in the classroom and on the field, their most important contribution to Bishop Baseball came in another form that left a lasting impression on all who saw them perform. That contribution was their commitment to others through the Bishops’ Community Outreach Program.
