  • Moe Bauer Inducted into USA South Hall of Fame

    The USA South Athletic Conference inducted its 2012 Hall of Fame Class on Sunday, May 6th, in a ceremony held on the campus of Ferrum College. The legendary Dr. Raymond “Moe” Bauer represented North Carolina Wesleyan in the 2012 Hall of Fame Class.
  • Athletics Hosts 47th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 47th Annual Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 16th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2011-2012 season. Among those athletes and teams, NCWC boasted 50 USA South All-Conference selections, three USA South Championships, two Players of the Year, one Coach of the Year and one NCAA tournament berth. Highlighting the night’s winners were the honors given for the Male and Female Student-Athlete of the Year, along with the Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
  • Bishop Baseball Ends Season at USAS Tourney

    North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2012 baseball season come to an end at this weekend's USA South Conference Tournament. The Bishops dropped their opening round game to Shenandoah on Thursday, 5-3, but rebounded for a solid 3-0 shutout of Greensboro on Friday morning. Unfortunately, Friday evening saw Wesleyan eliminated from the tourney via a heartbreaking 9-8 decision to Averett in extra innings.
  • Laffin Heads Up Baseball All-Conference Honorees

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2012 All-Conference awards for baseball with a total of 45 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. Senior Pat Laffin led North Carolina Wesleyan as a First Team pick, while five other Bishops garnered accolades.
  • Baseball Honors Seniors to Cap Final Homestand

    The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball team honored its 2012 senior class on Saturday afternoon prior to the Bishops' regular season finale with Methodist, capping a three-game homestand that had begun on Thursday. Head Coach Charlie Long recognized Kaleb Wessell, Shane Flynn, Zach Moore, Pat Laffin, Andre' Nichols, Robby Costa and Justin Shearin prior to the contest, which saw the Bishops drop a second-straight one-run decision to the Monarchs, 6-5.
  • Two Bishops Garner Rookie of the Week Honors

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for April 2nd, and North Carolina Wesleyan had two freshmen recognized. Hatteras Brooks of baseball was tabbed the league's Rookie Pitcher of the Week, while Michelle Hart was named Rookie of the Week in women's tennis.

    Greensboro College scored two runs in the bottom of the 12th inning to earn a 5-4 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Brandon Roberts received a no-decision after allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five over seven complete.

    North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games over the past two days, falling to Randolph-Macon at home by an 8-3 score on Thursday before suffering an 11-1 defeat at Lynchburg on Friday.

  • Wesleyan Hosts Three-Game Set with North Central

    The Battling Bishop baseball team hosted a three-game set versus North Central College over the weekend. The Cardinals took Friday's opener and Sunday's finale by 4-3 and 4-1 scores, respectively, while NCWC was a 6-4 winner on Saturday. Brandon Roberts earned Wesleyan's lone victory on the mound, with Jake Swartout earning his second save of the season.

    The Battling Bishop baseball team dropped a pair of close non-conference games on Thursday and Friday, falling to Lynchburg and Keystone by 5-3 and 3-2 scores, respectively, at Bauer Field. Friday's 3-2 loss to the Giants saw the two squads battle for 13 innings.

The Battling Bishops came away with three wins in six outings, led by senior Andre' Nichols who batted .375 and turned in a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage over the six-game span.

    On Saturday night, October 29th, the North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics officially inducted former head coach Tony Guzzo and men's basketball All-Americans Jamar Jones and Chris Moody into its Athletics Hall of Fame.
