    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.
  • Bishop Women End Season in USA South Tourney

    The N.C. Wesleyan women's tennis team saw its 2013 season come to an end on Friday afternoon, as the 7th-seeded Bishops fell to 2nd-seeded Christopher Newport by a 9-0 score in Rocky Mount. The loss marks the end of the careers of four-year seniors Samia Kacher, Tori Jones, Bristy Parker and Tija Riley.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013 postseason awards for women's tennis, with total of 35 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. A trio of N.C. Wesleyan players garnered recognition, led by senior Samia Kacher as a First Team honoree.

    On Senior Day at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center, the N.C. Wesleyan women's tennis team closed out its regular season schedule with a dominating 8-1 win over Greensboro College. Prior to the match, first-year head coach Worth Richardson honored his four seniors: Tori Jones, Samia Kacher, Bristy Parker and Tija Riley.

    The women's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan cruised to a pair of USA South road victories over the weekend, picking up a 7-2 win at Mary Baldwin on Friday and a 9-0 sweep of Averett on Saturday. The Battling Bishops have now won four straight to even their league record at 4-4.

    Top-seeded Samia Kacher surrendered just one game at #1 singles and teamed with fellow senior Bristy Parker for an 8-3 win at #2 doubles to help her N.C. Wesleyan tennis squad secure a 9-0 sweep of William Peace University on Wednesday afternoon. The win marks the Bishops' second straight victory in USA South action.

    The men's and women's tennis teams of N.C. Wesleyan secured a trio of USA South wins on Friday and Saturday, as the men swept league foes Maryville and Ferrum, while the women picked up an 8-1 victory over the Panthers.

    The North Carolina Wesleyan women's tennis team suffered a pair of tough 5-4 defeats in USA South play this weekend, falling at Piedmont and LaGrange on Saturday and Sunday. Samia Kacher went 2-0 at #1 singles and 1-1 at #1 doubles, as did fellow seniors Tori Jones and Bristy Parker at the #3 and #4 singles flights, respectively, and the #2 doubles slot.

    The women's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan competed this past weekend at the ITA Southeast Regionals hosted by the University of Mary Washington. Senior Bristy Parker dominated her way to the finals of the B Singles Draw, turning in straight-set victories over players from Sweet Briar, Juniata and host UMW.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.

    Following an extensive national search, the North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce Worth Richardson as the next head coach of the Battling Bishops’ men’s and women’s tennis programs. Richardson’s successful track record as both a coach and recruiter, as well as his familiarity with North Carolina Wesleyan and the USA South Athletic Conference, set him apart as the perfect successor to Dominic Modise, who recently accepted a position as head women’s tennis coach at the University of Southern Mississippi.
