  • Former Bishop Jaine Lindo Signs with ASA Charge

    Former Battling Bishop Jaine Lindo has officially signed with the ASA Charge, an affiliate of the US National Premier Soccer League set to enter its inaugural season. A four-year letterwinner for NCWC from 2007 to 2010, the 23-year Lindo will help anchor the midfield.

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 49th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd, in Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2013-2014 season.
  • USA South Releases Fall Sport All-Conference Teams

    The USA South has released its fall sport All-Conference teams, with N.C. Wesleyan garnering three selections in men's soccer. Additionally, the league recognized its All-Sportsmanship teams, which saw Bishops from soccer and volleyball honored.

  • Trio of Bishops Earn USA South Weekly Honors

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for October 28th, and three Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Senior Leifur Kristjansson and freshman teammate Daniel Kamdem were named Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week in men's soccer, respectively, while freshmen Malik Adams picked up his second Offensive Rookie of the Week award in football.
  • Bishop Men Honor Kristjansson, Earn Pair of Wins

    The Battling Bishop men's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan earned a pair of USA South wins on Saturday and Sunday at Scalf Field, shutting out Huntingdon College on Saturday, 5-0, before downing LaGrange College on Sunday, 4-1. Prior to Sunday’s match, head coach Frankie Taal honored his lone senior Leifur Kristjansson, a four-year letterwinner and team captain.

    The North Carolina Wesleyan men’s soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout of 24th-ranked Roanoke College on Wednesday afternoon at Scalf Field. The Bishops' Torben Vennemann and Samba Cande netted scores in the 68th and 74th minutes, while keeper Richard Kandarczyk made two saves in goal to secure his first collegiate win.

  • USAS Releases 50th Anniversary Men's Soccer Team

    The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of men's soccer, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed 22 Bishop players on the squad.

    North Carolina Wesleyan and Virginia Wesleyan battled to a 2-2 double overtime draw on a cold and damp Tuesday afternoon at Scalf Field. After trailing 2-1 at the break, the Bishops' Thorfinnur Thorfinnsson delivered a corner assist that freshman Alex Mansaray bicycle kicked into the goal for the equalizer at 63:55, securing NCWC's second tie of the season.

Freshman Samba Cande and senior Leifer Kristjansson each netted goals for the Bishops, but it was Randolph's Jacob Lusczek who secured the Wildcats’ win with a golden goal in the second overtime.

  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.

Previously on Saturday, both the men's and women's teams dropped tough 1-0 matches, while volleyball completed day two of the Johns Hopkins Classic.

    The Battling Bishop men's soccer team opened its 2013 season Friday afternoon, securing a 2-1 win over Bridgewater College at Scalf Field. Freshman Samba Cande tallied the eventual gamewinner on a through ball from Lucas Gundermann in the 57th minute to help Wesleyan move to 1-0 on the season.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013 fall sport preseason coaches polls for volleyball and soccer. North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball squad received a 2nd-place billing in the league's North Division, while men's soccer was tabbed 3rd and women's soccer 10th in their respective polls.
