    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.
  • Baseball Season Ends in USA South Quarterfinals

    The 2nd-seeded Battling Bishop baseball team saw its 2013 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament. Despite dropping Thursday's tourney opener to Maryville, Wesleyan rebounded for 5-3 and 4-1 wins over #3 Averett and #1 Christopher Newport on Friday to set up Saturday's quarterfinal game versus #4 LaGrange at Five County Stadium.
  • Long Named Coach of the Year, Six Bishops Honored

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013 postseason awards for baseball, with total of 47 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. Six Battling Bishop players were recognized, including First Team honorees Jake Alexander and Ciro Norzagaray, while head coach Charlie Long was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for April 8th, and two Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Junior Will Beasley picked up his first career Pitcher of the Week award in baseball, while senior Artsiom Prostak was named Player of the Week in men's tennis.
  • Baseball Honors Seniors, Prepares for USAS Tourney

    North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball team wrapped up its 2013 regular season slate over the weekend, taking the opener of its three-game series with Christopher Newport in thrilling fashion before dropping the final two games to the regular season league champions. Prior to Sunday's game, head coach Charlie Long honored his two seniors: Jake Alexander and Jake Swartout.
  • Pair of Baseball Bishops Earn USA South Honors

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for April 1st, and two Battling Bishops have earned recognition in baseball. Freshmen Ciro Norzagaray and Robert Mondoux were tabbed the league's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after leading Wesleyan to a 4-1 week.
  • Riley's Pinch Hit Gives Bishops Sweep of Ferrum

    Freshman Jason Riley's two-run pinch hit in the top of the eighth inning gave his N.C. Wesleyan baseball team an 8-7 win over Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon, securing the Bishops' second straight league sweep. Wesleyan had previously downed the Panthers by 18-14 and 3-1 scores on Friday to take over sole possession of second place in the league standings. The Bishops, who have won seven of their last eight games, now stand at 14-7 in USA South play and are 18-18 overall.
  • NCWC Baseball Splits with St. Andrews at Bauer Field

    North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball team earned a twinbill split with non-conference foe St. Andrews University on Tuesday afternoon at Bauer Field. The opener saw NCWC get strong pitching performances from freshmen Robert Mondoux and Dillon Moore en route to a 2-1 victory in 13 innings, while the nightcap was called due to darkness with the Knights up 4-3 after six complete.
  • Rodriguez, Ljungdahl Earn USA South Weekly Honors

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for March 25th, and two Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Sophomore J.J. Rodriguez picked up his first career Player of the Week award in baseball, while freshman Johan Ljungdahl was named both Player and Rookie of the Week in men's tennis.
  • Bishops Sweep Pride to Move to 11-7 in League Play

    The Battling Bishop baseball team of North Carolina Wesleyan turned in a three-game sweep of USA South foe Greensboro College this weekend. Wesleyan downed the Pride by a 12-4 score on Friday, then swept Saturday's doubleheader by 3-1 and 5-3 scores.
  • Norzagaray Picks Up Third USA South Weekly Honor

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for March 18th, and N.C. Wesleyan freshman Ciro Norzagaray of baseball has picked up his third Rookie of the Week award. Norzagaray's previous two honors saw him recognized as the league's Rookie Pitcher of the Week.
  • Bishops Take Second Straight USA South Series

    N.C. Wesleyan's baseball squad earned its second straight USA South series win over the weekend, taking two of three games at Maryville College. Junior Will Beasley tossed a gem in Saturday's opener to help Wesleyan to a 3-1 win, while senior Jake Alexander went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in Sunday's 10-1 rubber game victory. The wins sandwiched an 11-4 loss to the Scots in game two of the series.

    Junior Hayden Williams and senior Jake Swartout highlighted this weekend's baseball action at Bauer Field, as the Bishop duo helped N.C. Wesleyan to a pair of USA South wins over Averett University. Williams delivered a gamewinning RBI-double in the bottom of the 13th inning of Friday's 7-6 win, while Swartout tossed a complete-game shutout in Saturday's 3-0 victory.

  • Bishops Pick Up Win over LC, Norzagaray Honored

    Freshman hurler Ciro Norzagaray has been named the USA South's Rookie Pitcher of the Week after teaming with senior Jake Swartout for a 7-0 shutout of LaGrange College on Sunday. The win helped the Bishops avoid a league sweep, as the Panthers took Sunday's opener by a 3-0 score and wrapped up the series with a 6-5 defeat of NCWC on Monday.

For a fourth straight year, North Carolina Wesleyan has earned representation, this time in the form of baseball standout Greg Clark who will join Don Scalf, Moe Bauer, Mike Fox and Roger Taylor as Battling Bishop inductees.

    Sophomore Hatteras Brooks tossed six scoreless innings, scattering five hits and striking out four to lead his N.C. Wesleyan baseball squad to a 5-0 win over Emory & Henry in Sunday's rubber game at Bauer Field. The Bishops had split a doubleheader with the Wasps on Saturday, taking the opener by a 3-1 score before falling 8-2 in the nightcap.

    The Battling Bishop Baseball team just completed a very busy fall working hard to make the 2013 spring campaign a success. While reaching for high academic marks, the team spent long hours on the field striving for their best followed by a strenuous off-season strength and conditioning program. As great as their work was in the classroom and on the field, their most important contribution to Bishop Baseball came in another form that left a lasting impression on all who saw them perform. That contribution was their commitment to others through the Bishops’ Community Outreach Program.

    North Carolina Wesleyan celebrated its 2012 Homecoming on Saturday, and the day was full of notable highlights. A pair of USA South soccer wins coupled with Commissioner Rita Wiggs' halftime presentation at the Bishops' football game made for an exciting day, while the Department of Athletics annual Hall of Fame inductions capped off a memorable night in Rocky Mount.
  • Clark and Driver Join N.C. Wesleyan Coaching Staff

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce two additions to its coaching staff, and neither is a stranger to Battling Bishop athletics. Former NCWC standout Greg Clark has joined the baseball staff as head coach of Wesleyan's junior varsity squad, while Desiree' Driver has returned to the Bishop sidelines as assistant coach for women's basketball.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
  • Athletics Announces 2012 Hall of Fame Class

    Since 1999, North Carolina Wesleyan College has honored 51 former athletes, administrators, teams, coaches and contributors by enshrining them in its Athletics Hall of Fame. These individuals have created a higher standard for Battling Bishop athletics and were selected based on their outstanding accomplishments and/or contributions to the College. This year’s class meets these same standards and will comprise the 14th group of honorees. The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Misty Carneal of women’s basketball, Jennifer Foreman of women’s soccer and Mark Silletti of baseball have been chosen to comprise its 2012 Hall of Fame class.
