    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2013-2014 Academic All-Conference Team, and North Carolina Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that 84 Battling Bishops have garnered recognition, marking the highest total in school history!
  • Athletics Hosts 49th Annual Awards Ceremony

    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 49th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd, in Minges Auditorium of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2013-2014 season.
  • Bishop Women End Season in USA South Tourney

    The women's basketball team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2013-14 season come to end on Thursday afternoon, dropping a hard-fought 70-63 decision to South Division top-seed Maryville College in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The loss marks the ends of the careers of four-year seniors Tiffany Bell, Monet Edwards, Shanice Goree, Jaleesa Honesty and Kourtney Salisbury.
  • Bell, Harris Earn USA South Postseason Accolades

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2013-14 All-Conference awards for women's basketball. A total of 28 student-athletes were named to various teams, with N.C. Wesleyan having three Bishops garner accolades. Senior Tiffany Bell became the first Bishop in over a decade to earn First Team honors, while freshman Kenyata Harris picked up one of the league's major awards by being named Rookie of the Year. Freshman Jordan Cager rounded out Wesleyan's honorees as a member of the All-Sportsmanship team.
  • Women's Basketball Recognizes 2014 Senior Class

    The women's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan recognized its 2014 senior class on Sunday afternoon prior to taking on Ferrum College. Playing their final game in Everett Gymnasium were four-year letterwinners Tiffany Bell, Monet Edwards, Shanice Goree, Jaleesa Honesty and Kourtney Salisbury, who combined for over 3,000 points in their Bishop careers. Wesleyan went on to drop a 70-49 decision to the Panthers, who clinched the USA South regular season championship with the win.
  • Bishop Hoopsters Split at League Rival Methodist

    The men's and women's basketball teams of N.C. Wesleyan turned in a split with league rival Methodist University on Wednesday night in Fayetteville. The Battling Bishop women dropped a 77-70 decision to the Lady Monarchs, but Wesleyan's men followed up with a 90-77 victory in the late game to even their record at 12-12 on the season.
  • Salisbury's Career Highs Seal 76-66 Win over Angels

    Senior Kourtney Salisbury turned in her second career double-double on Tuesday night, dishing out 12 assists and pulling down 10 rebounds to help lift her Battling Bishops to a 76-66 road win at Meredith College. Wesleyan has now won three straight contests to even the Bishops' record at 11-11 on the season, 9-7 in USA South action.
  • Bell and Harris Sweep USA South Weekly Awards

    The USA South has released its weekly awards for women's basketball, with North Carolina Wesleyan senior Tiffany Bell and freshman Kenyata Harris sweeping league honors. For the first time in her career, Bell was named the conference's Player of the Week, while Harris picked up her third Rookie of the Week accolade of the season.
  • NCWC Women Shine in Two-Game League Sweep

    N.C. Wesleyan's women's basketball team swept a pair of USA South contests over the weekend in Everett Gymnasium, downing Greensboro College by a 79-56 score on Saturday before knocking off Averett University by a 69-58 score on Sunday. The Bishops never trailed in either contest and were led by freshman Kenyata Harris, who averaged a double-double over the two-game set.
  • Harris Earns Second Rookie of the Week Award

    The USA South has released its women's basketball weekly awards for February 10th, and North Carolina Wesleyan's Kenyata Harris has earned the league's Rookie of the Week award for the second time this season. Harris, a freshman guard from Raleigh, averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 14.0 rebounds last week. Additionally, she tallied 5.3 steals and 1.3 assists per contest as the Bishops posted a 2-1 record versus USA South competition.
  • Bishops Down MBC, Fall at Ferrum in League Action

    The Battling Bishop women's basketball team split a pair of USA South contests over the weekend, downing Mary Baldwin by an 82-58 score on Saturday before dropping a 86-59 decision to 18th-ranked Ferrum College on Sunday. Saturday's win at MBC featured a career-high 35 points for senior Tiffany Bell and a second straight double-double for freshman Kenyata Harris.
  • Bell Scores 1,000th Point in 79-53 Win over WPU

    Senior Tiffany Bell scored the 1,000th point of her career on Wednesday night in Everett Gym, helping her Battling Bishops to a 79-53 USA South win over William Peace University. The Waldorf, Md. native knocked down the milestone jumper with 2:35 to go and became the 12th player in women's basketball history to accomplish the feat.
  • Hot-Shooting Bishops Cruise Past Monarchs, 88-73
    January 30, 2014
    The women's basketball team of North Carolina Wesleyan cruised to an 88-73 USA South victory over Methodist University on Thursday night in Everett Gym, knocking down nearly half of their 78 attempts on the night. Five Battling Bishops reached double-figures in the win, led by senior Shanice Goree with 19 points.
  • Harris Tabbed USA South Rookie of the Week

    The USA South has released its women's basketball weekly awards for January 27th, and North Carolina Wesleyan's Kenyata Harris has been tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Harris, a freshman guard from Raleigh, averaged 17.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 1.0 assists per contest last week versus USA South competition.
  • Davis Paces Bishop Women in 71-66 Win over Hawks

    Junior NeTaih Davis poured in a career-high 25 points on Saturday to help lead her Battling Bishop women's basketball team to a 71-66 USA South win at Huntingdon College. Davis went on to score 11 more on Sunday, but Wesleyan would be unable to pull off a road sweep, falling at LaGrange by a 76-66 score.
  • Meredith Sinks Bishops with Last Second Shot, 69-67

    In USA South women's basketball action, Meredith College edged N.C. Wesleyan by a 69-67 score in Everett Gym on Wednesday night. NCWC senior Kourtney Salisbury drilled a go-ahead trey with 54 seconds remaining, but it was the Angels' McKenzi Edwards that provided the difference with a game-winning jumper at the buzzer.
  • Goree's Trey Secures Weekend Split in League Play

    Senior Shanice Goree knocked down a three-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to lift her Battling Bishop women's basketball team past Covenant College on Friday night in Everett Gymnasium, 75-72. The win secured a split in this weekend's USA South action, as Wesleyan went on to drop a 65-47 decision to Maryville College on Saturday.
  • USAS Names 50th Anniversary Women's Hoops Team

    The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of women's basketball, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed ten Bishop players on the squad.

    The women's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan cruised to a dominating 90-62 win over William Peace University on Tuesday night in the USA South opener for both squads. The Battling Bishops opened the game with a 19-1 run and did not look back en route to their second consecutive victory.
  • Harris' Buzzer Beater Gives Bishops Win at Lynchburg

    Freshman Kenyata Harris knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the final 16 seconds -- the latter coming at the buzzer -- to give her Battling Bishop women's basketball team a thrilling 67-66 victory at Lynchburg College on Friday.
  • Marlins Survive Bishops in Hoops Action, 60-57

    In Wednesday's women's hoops action, it was the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College who came out on top of the Battling Bishops, 60-57, in a tightly contested non-conference match-up in Everett Gymnasium. A clutch 3-pointer by NCWC senior Shanice Goree had given N.C. Wesleyan a 55-53 lead with 2:03 remaining, but the Marlins closed out the game with a 7-2 run to steal the victory.
  • Nationally-Ranked Captains Down Bishops, 87-72

    The 18th-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport University used a strong second half to pull away from North Carolina Wesleyan for an 87-72 win on Wednesday night in Everett Gym. Senior Tiffany Bell paced a trio of Bishops in double figures with a team-high 17 points.
  • Bishop Women Host Inaugural Jean Edge Classic

    The Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan opened their 2013-14 women's basketball slate on Saturday and Sunday, hosting the inaugural Jean Edge Classic in Everett Gymnasium. Case Western Reserve went 2-0 in the tourney, picking up wins over the host Bishops and Methodist University, who each downed Wesley College for their first wins of the season.
  • Wesleyan Hoops to Host Pair of Tip-Off Tournaments

    The men's and women's basketball teams of North Carolina Wesleyan will host a pair of tip-off tournaments this weekend to officially open their respective 2013-2014 slates. The Battling Bishop men will host their Roger Taylor Invitational, while NCWC's women will host their First Annual Jean Edge Classic.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has released its preseason coaches polls for men's and women's basketball. North Carolina Wesleyan's women received a fourth-place billing among the league's 13 institutions, while the Bishop men were tabbed sixth in their respective poll.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.
